Emergency Vaccines

The Leeds laboratory has been licensed by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) to manufacture emergency vaccines since 1986. Emergency vaccines are useful to control bacterial diseases where there is no suitable commercial licensed product.

Vaccines are manufactured from field isolates in our own laboratory. We can also make vaccines from organisms that have been isolated by other laboratories as long as they have been stored appropriately prior to shipping. Each vaccine must be licensed under VMD regulations – appropriate application forms are provided on request.

Our most commonly requested vaccines are for Cattle, Pigs and Sheep.

  • Viral papillomas.

Pigs

  • Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
  • Pasteurella multocida

Sheep

Autogenous wart vaccines are made from tissue retrieved from affected animals to promote rapid recovery from infection and can be made on an individual basis without a licence, although licensing is required if the vaccine is for herd use.

We also manufacture vaccines for a variety of other applications – Please contact our Leeds laboratory on 0113 250 7556 if you have any further queries.
