Water Testing

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Water Testing

We understand the importance of accurate and reliable water testing for veterinary purposes and to ensure public health safety. We perform an enumeration of a variety of pathogens that may be found in either potable water or pool water, which include:

  • E.coli
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Legionella
  • Enterococci
  • Coliforms
  • Total Viable Count (TVC) of microorganisms at 22⁰C and/or 37⁰C

I’m interested in potable water testing – how does it work?

With our potable water testing service, you can demonstrate to your clients that your facility meets the guidelines for drinking water safety and quality.  Based on your requirements, we can put together a variety of packages which can include (but are not limited to) the following: a printed enumerated result for Total Viable Count at 22⁰C and 37⁰C, Total Coliforms, E. coli, Enterococci, sulphite reducing Clostridia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange for a sampling kit to be sent to you.

How to take your sample

  1. Sampling should be done at a time that is as close as possible to despatching the sample to the lab.
  2. Take the water sample using the sample bottle provided. Make sure nothing touches inside or around the neck of the bottle or lid.
  3. Fill the bottle, being careful not to allow the neutralising agent within the bottle to escape.
  4. Label your sample with the following details:
    • Name of facility
    • Date and time sample was taken
    • Any other relevant information about your facility
  5. Package your sample securely, including an ice pack (with the exception of Legionellaplease contact the lab for further instructions for Legionella samples) and your submission form within the package.
  6. Send your sample to our our UK water testing laboratory as soon as possible using your prepaid postage label.

I’m interested in pool water testing – how does it work?

With our pool water testing service, you can demonstrate to your clients that your facility meets the guidelines for water safety and quality for animals and humans. We will provide a printed enumerated result for Total Viable Count at 37⁰C for 24 hours, Total Coliforms, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and provide guidance for interpretation.

Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange for a sampling kit to be sent to you.

How to take your sample

  1. Sampling should be done at a time when the pool is in use, preferably when it is heavily loaded or immediately afterwards.
  2. Take the water sample at the deep end, away from any inlets, using the sample bottle provided. Make sure nothing touches inside or around the neck of the bottle or lid.
  3. Immerse the bottle in an almost horizontal position to allow the water to flow in, being careful not to allow the neutralising agent within the bottle to escape.
  4. Label your sample with the following details:
    • Name of facility
    • Date and time sample was taken
    • Any other relevant information about your facility
  5. Package your sample securely, including a cool pack and your submission form within the package.
  6. Send your sample to our UK water testing laboratory as soon as possible using your prepaid postage label.

Please note: If you are testing for Legionella, then a separate 1 litre sample must be taken. This should be submitted as soon as possible, however this sample must be kept at room temperature (not chilled) and protected from light by placing in a sealed box or appropriate packaging. Make sure to include your submission form within the package and send your sample back to our laboratory using your prepaid postage label.
